LEARN TO PLAY POOL WITH BCA CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR (NYC)
YOU WILL LEARN:
Proper stance
Smooth stroke technique and grip with your back arm and hand. Your stroke should look and feel as comfortable to you as signing your name.
Solid and strong open and closed bridges with your front hand.
Aiming technique for pocketing balls plus the value of "cheating the pocket" when necessary.
Cue ball control by learning follow ball, stop ball and draw back so you can develop the ability to make the cue ball go where you want it to. (position/pattern play) This is how you navigate around and between the balls to make one shot after another easier and someday, with enough practice, be able to 'run' all the balls off the table without missing a shot.
I will also demonstrate the value of right and left hand spin on the cue ball better known as 'english' and show how this is also an important part of 'pattern play'.
You will learn about cue stick specifics such as weight of the cue, thickness of the cue shaft and the differences between soft, medium, hard cue tips and also layered tips so you'll be able to choose which is right for you.
You will learn a quick method to tell if a table rolls fast or slow and how to adjust your game accordingly
You will get practice exercises to do on your own to help your progress with aiming and cue ball control.
I learned to play pool from a 3 time world champion, Ray Martin. I have played for over 35 years and have taught many to play for over 20 years. My high run is 170 balls in the game of Straight Pool.
I very much enjoy teaching beginners the fundamentals and starting them off with good skills to help build a solid foundation to get better and better and increase your enjoyment of this great game.
Last but not least, you'll have fun!
table rental is extra.
